Autorickshaws (a.k.a. rickshaws, tuk-tuks, tuktuks or tuctucs) are an omnipresent form of public transport racing around many Asian cities, especially in India. Essentially a moped with three wheels and a roof (and not much else...), rickshaws are usually powered by a four gear (plus reverse!), 150cc, two- or four-stroke drive system. When we get to India, and are introduced to our intrepid steed, we'll post details and images here. In the meantime, check out the Tracing Tea, Bharat Traders, Rickshaw Run and Wikipedia websites for technical information on rickshaws, and the Tracing Tea and Tuk to the Road websites for examples of even more mammoth journeys! ______________________________________________________ "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes" - Marcel Proust |
